A late night shooting in Birmingham’s Five Points South neighborhood left four dead and 17 injured is one of three quadruple homicides in the city thus far in 2024, according to AL.com.
On July 13, a
drive-by shooting at an adult birthday party left four people dead and
nine others injured. The victims were Angela Weatherspoon, 56, of Center Point,
Markeisha Gettings, 42, of Birmingham, Stevie McGhee, 39, of Birmingham, and
Lerandus Anderson, 24, of Center Point.
On Feb. 16, four
men were killed in a drive-by shooting in the Smithfield neighborhood.
Talton “TJ” Tait, 36, Cortez Ray, 32, Terrell Edwards, 38, and Kevin McGhee,
38, were killed in that shooting.
It also the most recent mass homicide in the state.
The FBI defines mass killings as incidents in which four or
more people die within a 24-hour period, not including the killer, according to
The Associated Press.
