Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated 55 years ago today, on the balcony of the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis, TN.
The night before his murder, King gave a speech at the Mason Temple in
support of the Memphis sanitation works that were on strike. He closed his
remarks with the following painfully prophetic statement:
“I may not get there with you, but I want you to
know tonight that we as a people will get to the Promised Land.”
The struggle continues!
